When you first hear that Ram has revealed the 2019 model year Rebel 12, what is the first thing that springs to mind? Twelve cylinders isn’t the case, however, because 12 stands for the diagonal of the infotainment system’s touchscreen.
You could go on to say that Ram has taken the art of clickbait to a different level, and you’re right in this regard. What other automaker or model has infotainment inches in its name, for crying out loud? Look past this questionable nomenclature, and the 1500-based Rebel 12 starts to shape up as an interesting pickup truck for the lifestyle-oriented customer.

Standard features include the 900-watt Harman Kardon sound system, which totals 19 speakers and active noise cancellation. Leather trim, heated front seats, “unique metal speaker grilles” trimmed in anodized Radar Red are also included.

Off the beaten path, the Rebel 12 has 33-inch Wrangler DuraTrac tires, a locking rear differential, and a factory-specification lift kit that ensure supreme capability in the most adverse of terrains. The skid plates, on the other hand, are located so that they offer protection where it matters.

Bilstein shock absorbers come standard, but customers can go one step further with the height-adjustable air suspension. Moving on to the suck-squeeze-bang-blow side of the deal, Ram is much obliged to offer the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque mild-hybrid technology.

If 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet aren’t enough to get you excited, the Rebel 12 can be upgraded to the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with or without the fuel-saving system. Regardless of setup, the eight-cylinder engine churns out 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.

Having said these, what about pricing? By replacing the 8.4-inch Uconnect with the 12-inch system, the pricing difference from the standard model comes down to $2,295. Going on sale from the fourth quarter of the year, the $46,990 off-road pickup truck is covered by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. The basic limited warranty, meanwhile, provides bumper-to-bumper coverage for three years of 36,000 miles.
