The 2019 Porsche 911 is now in its advanced development stages, with more and more prototypes having been caught testing on the Nurburgring. And there's one particular corner of the rumor mill that has gained traction today, namely that talking about the hybrid Neunelfer.
Before we go any deeper into the matter, allow us to mention an aspect that is fueling these rumors, namely the fact that the Porsche Mission E has been spied for the first time earlier this week (yes, most of the concept's gorgeous lines are still here).

Once the electron juice-sipping baby Panamera makes its debut, a move that is expected to take place in late 2019, Zuffenhausen will aim to strengthen its EV and hybrid lineup. And since the 919 Hybrid has grabbed the Le Mans title for three years in a row now, the motorsport pedigree for the newcomer is already there.

As for how this will impact the retro backbone sportscar, the most recent statements coming from Porsche officials have denied the introduction of a gas-electric model with the new generation of the 911.

Nevertheless, Zuffenhausen has previously dropped hints on the newcomer bringing hybrid power, so we should take the more recent denial with a grain of salt.

The wildest forum talk out there mentions that the German automaker could introduce not one, but two gas-electric versions of the next-gen Neunelfer - we're not sure whether the car will use the 992 chassis code, hence our reluctance to use this label.

Following the recipe that debuted on the 2017 Panamera, the iconic sportscar could get a hybrid model slotted just above the Carrera S in terms of performance. This may be joined by a 911 Turbo S E-Hybrid - we'll remind you that the rumors about the Panny and the Neunelfer getting 700 hp hybrid incarnations date back to a few years ago.

Until we get our hands on fresh info regarding this matter, we're inviting you to check out a (probably non-hybrid) 2019 Porsche 911 prototype doing its thing on the Green Hell.
