Just as we predicted, the Mazda CX-9 is now offered with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto right out of the box for the 2019 model year. These are just two of several small updates to the largest crossover from the Japanese automaker.
Just like with the Mazda6, the system is fitted to Touring and above trim levels, including Grand Touring, and Signature. However, here, you can also add it as an option to the base CX-9 Sport. Pricing has also gone up, but not by much. The Sport FWD is now $33,275 instead of last year's $44,125.

The base Sport now gets standard 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, LED lighting units, 7-inch infotainment system, Bluetooth, three-zone climate control and keyless start and access. On the safety front, automatic emergency braking and Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert have been made standard.

You can also add the Sport Package for $1,290 in which case you will also have Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, automatic headlights and wipers, radar cruise control, heated side mirrors and a powered driver's seat.

At $36,325, the CX-9 Touring is now $370 more expensive but gainst standard auto headlights, leather seats, a larger 8-inch infotainment, and a powered liftgate. On top of that, you can add the Premium Package ($2,390) with a Bose premium sound system, LED fog lights, front parking sensors, second-row retractable sunshades, and power moonroof.

The $41,835 CX-9 Grand Touring is $270 more expensive but comes with 20-inch wheels, ventilated heated and powered seats, heated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera and a 7-inch TFT for the driver.

The largest increase is for the Signature trim level: $1,050 to $46,360 including destination. It gets new badges, rosewood interior trim, and accent lighting in addition to the familiar Auburn Nappa leather.

As for the power, this still comes from a 2.5-liter turbo making 250-hp and 310lb-ft (420Nm) of torque. The six-speed auto is standard, but only Signature gets AWD for free. On all the others, you'll pay $1,800 extra.
