2017 Volkswagen Amarok Spied Testing in Winter Conditions

Volkswagen engineers have been spotted testing the Amarok facelift in Sweden. Since the Nordic country still has snow in April, it was the perfect opportunity for VW to put those Amarok prototypes to the test.

Like other automakers do, the German manufacturer took advantage of Swedish open roads and back roads to ensure the upcoming Amarok facelift is ready for the exigent demands of pick-up truck customers.

Fortunately for us, our friends at CarPix were there, and they snapped a few shots of the prototypes of the upcoming restyling prepared for the model.

This time, Volkswagen took both versions of the Amarok to road tests together, so you can see the single cab and crew cab variants of Volkswagen’s only global pick-up on the road at the same time.

As the light layer of camouflage shows, the facelift will bring mild changes to the front end of the pick-up truck from Volkswagen. The changes include a new front bumper, a modified grille, and a set of headlights.

While the prototypes in the photo gallery do not feature any changes to the rear end, Volkswagen is expected to fit the production Amarok facelift with new taillights.

Along with the exterior design changes, the restyled pickup truck could receive an enhanced interior. We are talking about a new instrument cluster, a revised dash, the brand’s new infotainment system, and some active safety technologies as optional equipment.

Volkswagen is expected to release the Amarok facelift as a 2017 model. The refreshed version of the pick-up truck that became a success story for the German carmaker’s commercial vehicle division was launched six years ago, so this is a mid-cycle update that is expected to be kept until the next generation comes along.

The German automaker is expected to show the Amarok facelift by the end of this year. Most likely, the refreshed Amarok could be shown at this year’s Paris Motor Show, or at another important event of the automotive world.
