The John Cooper Works take on the 2017 MINI Clubman is just what the doctor ordered. Mind you, it isn’t cheap. Pricing for the German market kicks off at €35,800, whereas the British public has to pony up at least £29,345 for the full-on JCW Clubman.
The prices mentioned earlier apply to the no-frills manual model. An 8-speed automatic is also available provided that you have €37,900 and£30,945 to spend, respectively. As standard, the JCW Clubman gets a pair of LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, plenty of go-faster design cues (including a "look at me I'm so angry" hood scoop), and All4 all-wheel-drive.

Safety features and multimedia goodies also abound, albeit there are a handful of optional extras worth ticking off the list. One of them is the so-called Navigation System XL. The 8.8-inch infotainment system is touchscreen-based and it’s more laden with features than the standard 6.5-inch system. The second option you should consider is called Chili Pack.

For €3,500 and £2,000, respectively, Chili Pack adds 19-inch Course wheels, Dinamica/Leather upholstery, automatic climate control, four velour floor mats, a front armrest, and three packages: Light, Storage, and Excitement. Exterior paint finished also abound for the JCW Clubman, ranging from the no-cost Moonwalk Gray metallic to British Racing Green metallic and beyond.

Under the hood, the compact-sized station wagon with six doors and a big trunk hides a TwinPower Turbo engine. The 2.0-liter unit churns out 231 PS (228 horsepower) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, figures that enable the 2017 MINI JCW Clubman to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in merely 6.3 seconds. For measure, a Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance DSG is one-tenth of a second slower than the more substantial JCW Clubman. Top speed? That would be 238 km/h (148 mph) according to MINI, also known as fast enough.

Now on sale in most European markets, the 2017 MINI Clubman in John Cooper Works flavor is slated to arrive at dealers in Q1 of next year.
