BMW has yet to confirm whether the all-new generation of the 5 Series will debut in Paris this October or in Detroit Motor City this coming January. Nevertheless, the Bavarian automaker is still fine-tuning the G30 sedan on the affectionately named Green Hell.
What car spotter Automotive Mike has spied this time around is a 2017 BMW 550i Sedan which, from the squeals we can hear in the following video, could be equipped with xDrive all-wheel-drive. What stirs me up more than tire squeal is the fact that the driver lets the engine burble to its heart’s content.

The G30 5 Series in 550i form will continue to use the tried-and-tested BMW N63 V8 from the F10 with minor improvements to keep things fresh and exciting. At the present moment, the N63B44 in the BMW F10 550i makes do with 449 PS in Euro specification and 445 horsepower in the U.S. model.

In terms of design, BMW has recently issued a handful of photographs with a slightly camouflaged G30. It is the first time BMW drops teasers of the new kid on the block, which could translate to into a debut in Paris instead of Detroit. Be that as it may, the official teasers show us a G30 that looks much like the F10 it replaces, albeit just a bit more taut and a bit more elegant.

If elegance is now what you’re looking for in a G30 5 Series, the F90 M5 is just what the doctor ordered. Optional xDrive, roughly 600 HP on tap, an exhaust sound that wakes the dead from their eternal slumber, OLED taillights and Laserlight headlights, what more could you wish for? Don’t worry, the G31 5 Series Touring and G32 Gran Turismo are in the cards as well.

Oh, and by the way, the 2017 BMW 5 Series (G30/G31/G32/F90) is the first model in the manufacturer's existence to receive 3D mapping for quality. You'll find more details about that in the release right below the video.
