2017 Audi A5/S5 Coupe Shows Up in the Metal at German Venues
Even though the all-new Audi A5 had only been revealed a few days ago, we consider that there aren't enough photos available. Most of the stuff Audi gave us is computer-generated mambo-jumbo, so we jumped at the chance to see real life images.
Immediately after its debut, the coupe showed up at Audi City Berlin, another event location where the German Automaker likes to showcase new cars.

While there isn't anything particularly new or groundbreaking about the A5 and S5, these twins represent the third major model built on the MLB Evo platform. In our honest opinion, they are also the most beautiful.

Audi is getting every cent's worth from hiring the new designer, Marc Lichte. Everywhere you look, there's a small detail suggesting fabrication had moved ahead a lot from when the original A5 made its debut in 2007.

The flat Singleframe grille has intricate 3D bars; the headlights are imposing yet simple. Numerous creases define the hood and profile. Large, flat surfaces on top of the wheel arches play with the light, a bit like those of the Aston DB11.

Two distinct versions of the car were brought to Audi City. The silver one is the A5 2.0T quattro, fitted with a 252 hp engine that's even available on the Porsche Macan. The other model is a 3.0 TDI quattro, one of three turbodiesels that will be available from launch. Especially for this car, Audi has boosted the output to 286 hp, which is the highest of any single-turbo 6-cylinder sold by the German premium automakers. Besides the red paint, you may also notice that the front bumper is different, probably a Sport version or S-Line package.

We have no idea which engine we'd have if we could afford the A5, but it would probably be either the best TDI or the S5. Both these cars can be equipped with a quattro rear differential that completely changes the handling characteristics of the vehicle.

However, we want to be fair and point out the amazing Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe, which we showed you only a day ago. It too has a 3-liter V6 engine but features a second turbocharger and the total output of 367 hp. By the end of the year, this battle may also be fought between equally powerful and all-new SUVs, the GLC 43 and SQ5.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
