It struck us that while we have seen renderings of an all-new 2016 Skoda Superb Scout before, no spy photos exist. Maybe the Czechs are saving all their cash for the recall or the development of a proper SUV instead.
The Scout model is ideal for family car buyers with an adventurous side. There's no more worrying about stone chips on your precious paintjob or wondering if the oil pan will be busted by that rock.

The Octavia Scout model has been very well received since its introduction last year. It's kind of representative of the Skoda badge: tough on the outside and filled with value. Four engines are available, ranging from a 1.6 TDI to a 1.8 turbo running on gasoline.

Of course, the Superb would/will be better at everything than the Octavia. For starters, it will have access to the 220 PS Golf GTI engine, just like the Passat Alltrack. The cargo space would be somewhere around 650 liters even before folding the seats flat.

Right, back to the renderings. These were created by Theophilus Chin, who put the Superb Combi on stilts. A tougher looking front bumper and black fender flares are part of this car's natural charm.

We'd stop way short of calling the Superb Scout a beautiful car. Audi's A6 allroad is more beautiful and faster, but it also costs a lot more.

Skoda's Scout models offer so much more than a body kit. For example, the drive mode selector adds another setup for off-road use. The ABS also works differently under low traction conditions, and the gearbox is more robust.

Front-wheel drive models shouldn't exist, as the Haldex 5 rear coupling will come standard.

So why should we wait until 2016 for the Superb Scout and not buy the Passat Alltrack that's already available? Because it will come with 29 ‘Simply Clever’ features that are typical of the Skoda brand, including a rear seat tablet holder, an LED flashlight and an umbrella in each of the front doors (how Bentley). The option on the Superb will also be cheaper (around €35,000 in Germany) to buy than on a Volkswagen, and the cargo space will be much bigger.
