2016 Lexus RX Seven-Seater Spied, Looks Like Lexus Listen to Their Customers

The 2016 Lexus RX is far from being an absolute novelty, but a seven-seater RX is a big deal for Toyota's luxury brand.

The spyshots you are about to see come as the last piece to the puzzle of something we call an extremely well-timed situation.

Allow us to detail. It was only a couple of days ago when several auto-related news outlets reported that Lexus wants to add an RX with three-row seating.

Now, the speculation about such a version was been on the internet for some time now. Some claimed the new seven-seater would be called Lexus TX, a nameplate trademarked by Lexus.

Then, these spyshots are taken and sent in by our team of spy photographers. They say the test mules were spotted running on the streets of Los Angeles.

If these are indeed Lexus RX models in seven-seat config, then we can tell you for sure the radical-designed RX we saw this spring sent its every design cue to these mules.

However, there are some masked areas. The vinyl padding could be hiding some of the added inches that would be necessary to accommodate a third row of seats.

Also, the rear windows were covered in blacked-out tint, presumably to keep curious eyes from peering into the rear confines of these RX testers.
Does a seven-seater RX make sense?
The answer to that question is yes, especially after Lexus General Manager, Jeff Bracken, said US customers frequently requested the RX with three-row seating to their dealers.

All we know for now beside the official data is the five-seater RX will make a debut this fall, so his oversized brother will most likely make an appearance next year. If that's the case, the SUV should be offered in the 350 and 450h versions, but the best thing to do now is wait and see how things develop.
