Just one day separates us from the debut of the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015. Despite the British location of the event, Chevrolet seems determined to wrap everything in the American flag and they’ve released a new teaser for their performance offensive.
The video below, which shows us a headlight in the dark, only mentions the package is going straight from Detroit to Goodwood. We’re all invited to check out the unveiling on Friday, June 26. The event will be introduced by Dan Ammann, GM President and Alan Bately, Global Chevrolet Brand Chief.
Speaking of timing, the date above will come two days after the 2016 Camaro Convertible debut, which is scheduled for later today (24.06.2015). Judging by this info, as well as by the shape of the light cluster in the clip, it seems Chevy will bring the European version of the sixth-generation Camaro to Goodwood. GM isn't prepared to build the 6th-gen Camaro in right-hand-drive form at the moment, but perhaps that plan will change.
The Corvette won’t leave the Camaro tackle The Old Continent alone though, as a 2015 C7 Z06 will show the audience what GM means by “performance” thanks to its participation in the Goodwood Hillclimb. The Corvette C7.R will also be present - you didn’t expect the racecar to miss a trip to Europe two weeks after it brought a Le Mans victory, did you?
In case you’re wondering about the clientele’s access to Chevy’s sportscars, the story isn’t as complicated as it might seem. Yes, the European Chevrolet brand is being retired, but special models such as the Corvette and the Camaro will still be offered through Cadillac dealerships.
