In a twisted turn of faith, the already powerful BMW X6 M model released not long ago by the Germans, received a new power kit from Hamann that takes things even further.
When it was launched, the X6 M and his brother, the X5 M, became the most powerful cars put in production by BMW in its near 100-year long history. With their 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo mills tuned to make 575 HP and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque, things looked dead serious.
In the meantime, BMW launched the competition package for the revised M6 models, and they became the most powerful cars you could get with a blue and white roundel on the bonnet, at 600 HP. However, that’s not necessarily a production car. The dispute is still unsettled.
Hamann, in the meantime, worked its magic on that V8 and managed to produce a kit for it that takes things from 575 HP to no less than 640 HP. That’s an increase of 65 HP while, on the torque side of things, the increase was smaller of just 50 Nm (32 lb-ft) taking the total up to 800 Nm (585 lb-ft).
Couple that with the new Steptronic 8-speed gearbox and the xDrive all-wheel drive system and I guess I don’t have to draw what that leads up to, right?
On top of that, they were also interested in dropping some weight and improving aerodynamic performance. Therefore, their newest addition to the list of upgrades you can get for your X6 M is a carbon fiber bonnet. Not only it sheds some weight but it also adds a better aerodynamic profile.
Interested? Well, as you know, you need deep pockets to get some of this stuff. Prices haven’t been released yet, but the X6 M already starts just above the $100,000 mark so you’d have to be pretty much in love with the Sport Activity Coupe to get one in the first place.
