Now that Mercedes-Benz launched the new GLC model that is replacing the old GLK, BMW has to do some math to see how their own offering stacks up. Therefore, a look over what the Sport Activity Vehicle brings to the table had to be taken.
In this regard, BMW decided that for 2016 model year versions the X3 will get more standard kit. That means the Enhanced USB and Bluetooth option will, from now on, be free on all models, adding things such as Mobile Office (text messages, e-Mail, calendar, tasks, contact photos, voice memos), Bluetooth sync for a second phone, library browsing via Bluetooth and iSpeech are going to be found in every car sold in the US. On top of that, the xDrive35i cars get the Harman Kardon sound system for free.

The prices for various options have also been changed. For example, the Driver Assistance Plus package comprised of parking sensors, rearview camera, Active Driving Assistant with stop & go, active blind spot detection, surround view and speed limit info will cost only $1,700 from now on.

The Technology Package made up of remote services, advanced real-time traffic information, Navigation system, BMW online and Apps and an instrument cluster with extended contents and head-up display will cost $2,750.

Of course, if you prefer standalone options and not complete packages, that’s still a possibility and there have been price cuts in this regard too. For example, the standalone Navigation system can be had for $1,950 now while the smartphone integration kit costs just $200 from $500.

Prices for the X3 start at $39,595 for the sDrive28i model, go up to $41,595 for the xDrive28i version, $43,095 for the xDrive28d and $47,345 for the xDrive35i. Prices include the $995 destination and handling tax.
