In continous production since June 2007, the Audi R8 is something of an evolution of the now defunct Lamborghini Gallardo. After the Gallardo was phased out in favor of the Huracan, the R8 was sort of left behind, but the 2015 Geneva Motor Show will see the German 2-door coupe spawn a second generation.
There's little time until March comes and the posh European auto show opens its doors to the media and public. However, our carparazzi from CarPix tipped us about the photograph above, published by an R8-loving gentleman on Instagram. Yup, you're looking at the 2016 Audi R8 in all its camo-free glory on a car lift.
As you can see, the all-new Audi R8 boasts with more edgy exterior styling compared to its predecessor. The trademark Audi radiator grille is flanked at the sides by two square-ish intakes and a duo of projector-style headlights just above them. Boo and hiss! We were expecting the R8 LMX's laser lights, but Audi said nope on this occasion, instead giving us some LEDs.
Featuring a white body shell, black side mirror caps and a black-painted grille up front, the 2016 Audi R8 on hand seems to have a lot going on from its side profile, especially those slim side air intakes behind the doors. All things considered, it's not as flamboyant as its respectable forerunner, but we're not complaining.
Considering that a 2016 R8 prototype was caught on video testing a force-fed V8, you know what's what...

Think of it as the equivalent of every modern rock band's second album. It's similarly hard for automotive designers to live up to the public's huge expectations, but the 2016 R8 is an enticing vehicle, alright.
It's hard to tell what's under the bonnet of this baby, but it's obvious that we should expect the typical entry-level V8 motor and the Lamborghini Huracan-sourced 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 with around 570 horsepower at its disposal. However, it's anybody's guess if the all-wheel drive German bruiser in V8 guise will adopt the 4-liter twin-turbo or go on with an updated 4.2 atmospheric V8, tuned to roughly 450 HP.Considering that a 2016 R8 prototype was caught on video testing a force-fed V8, you know what's what...
