The upcoming third generation of the smart fortwo has been caught testing via some pretty ugly pre-prototype mules for quite a while now, but now it seems to be getting into a more production-looking shape.
One of the pre-production mules caught by our spy-photographers somewhere in California's Death Valley, doing hot-weather testing, seems to sport the production-model face.
You've all seen the white “Honey, I shrunk the Renault Twingo!” prototype mules before, but the grey one, with the swirly camouflage is all new, even though the rest of the car still looks like all the other mules in the pre-production smarts pack.
If you squint your eyes and try to make out through the cammo, you see it can reveal quite a lot of details for the front fascia.
Since the upcoming 2015 smart fortwo will try to go for more US sales than the current model, both the styling and its features will be more Americanized, with the accent put on more power for its three-cylinder engines – probably Renault-sourced – and an even better interior space for its tiny exterior size.
