The Nissan Pathfinder mid-size crossover SUV has been updated for the 2015 model year and now sports a base sticker price of $29,510 for the entry-level S two-wheel drive trim, including destination and handling. However, its strong points are not the full-size comfort for seven or off-road capabilities.
For 2015, the Japanese automaker offers the model only with a fuel-efficient 260 horsepower 3.5-liter V6, which returns 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway when coupled to the standard Xtronic transmission. If you plan on doing a bit of offroading, the least expensive four-wheel drive model is the $31,200 S 4WD, while the best-equipped model costs $43,100.
That Xtronic continuously variable transmission has been enhanced with D-Step Shift logic for smoother operation, while Hill Descent Control has been added to all four-wheel drive models. Moreover, some safety features such as Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) are now offered as standard equipment on the mid-upper SL and range-topping Platinum grades.
In addition to the previously mentioned, the upmarket Platinum specification adds standard Dual Panorama Moonroof. SL trim levels now boast with a revised SL Tech and Premium Package, which add goodies such as the Around View Monitor, tow hitch and harness for the SL Tech, as well as Around View Monitor and Nissan Navigation for the SL Premium. Last but not least, six new exterior finishes were added: Gun Metallic, Java Metallic, Midnight Jade, Magnetic Black, Pearl White and Glacier White.
