Revealed this year at the Beijing Auto Show, the all new Lexus NX mid-size crossover will reach worldwide dealerships this fall, with the UK being on the list to receive it in October. With this occasion we can take a look at how the NX will be packaged and offered to the masses.
We’ll skip the part where we talk about the NX’s design as we already did it here in the past. You either love or hate it, so we’ll jump straight to the luxury vehicle’s specs.
The NX measures 4,630 mm in length, 1,845 in width and rises 1,630 mm above the ground. Underneath its chiseled body lays a highly rigid frame, with extensive underbody reinforcements, additional bulkheads and spot-weldings, suspension braces as well as Lexus’ body adhesive and laser screw welding technologies, all being said to make the car agile, stable, comfortable and highly responsive.
Behind the wide mouth up front, you can place one of the two available powertrains for the UK - hybrid or the newly developed turbocharger unit.
The NX 300h gets the 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine aided by an electric motor, making for a total of 198 hp. It will be available with front- or all-wheel-drive transmission, in the latter being fitted with a secondary electric motor in the rear, and it will emit under 120 g/km of CO2, while averaging a fuel economy of 45.2 mpg (5.2 l/100 km).
For more power you can get the NX 200t, powered by Lexus’ first new 2-liter turbocharged engine making 238 hp and 350 Nm of torque. As its hybrid counterpart, the NX 200t will be offered in both front- or all-wheel-drive while a 6-speed automatic transmission will handle the gear changes for you. However, the turbo version is said to be offered next year for a reason or another.
OK, now how about the NX’s amenities? Well, in the UK, it will be offered in five different trim levels - S, SE, Luxury, F Sport and Premier, with pricing starting at £29,495.
Standard features on the S model includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED low-beam headlights and DRL, Pre-Crash Safety system with Adaptive Cruise Control, dual zone climate control, eight-speaker audio system, Lexus Media Display with Remote Touch controller, electric folding door mirrors, drive mode selector, Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, Hill Assist Control, eight airbags and USB media port.
For £31,495, you get the SE version which adds all-wheel drive, integrated roof rails, 18-inch rims, automatic wipers and heated front seats.
The Luxury grade comes at £34,495 and throws in LED foglamps, rear privacy glass, heated/electric front seats, silver trim inserts and scuff plates, parking sensors, auto-dimming rearview mirror and smart entry system.
Add up to £36,995 and the F Sport is unlocked, coming with special two-tone 18-inch rims, dedicated front end design, full LED headlights, special heated/electric front seats with lumbar support, specially tuned suspension, electrically adjustable steering wheel, power tailgate and wireless smartphone charger.
Top of the range Premier comes at £42,995 and will spoil its owner with auto-dimming door mirrors, heated/ventilated front seats with memory (driver side only), Mark Levinson audio system, card key, Lexus Premium Navigation pack, lane keep assist, 360-degree panoramic view, auto high beam, head-up display, rear cross traffic alert and heated steering wheel.
The automaker also specified that the new NX can now be ordered at any UK dealership, with deliveries starting this October.
