In 2014, the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck received a special edition model - the Blade. Fast-forward to the present day and the Japanese automaker decided to rejuvenate that moniker for the new flagship of the D-Max range. The price? £25,999.
As enthusiasts may already be aware, the D-Max is available in two separate ranges: Utility and Premium. Of course, Utility translates to black plastic bumpers while Premium ups the ante in terms of amenities. Until now, the Isuzu D-Max Premium range boasted with the Eiger, Yukon, and Utah double cab models.
Compared to the Eiger Double Cab, the 2015 Isuzu D-Max Blade costs £5,500 more but you get lots of equipment and added visual goodies for the premium you’re paying. If you want to swap the 6-speed manual for a 5-speed automatic transmission, prepare to pay another 1,000 pounds sterling.
Could someone tell Isuzu that a top-spec Ford Ranger Wildtrak with the 3.2 TDCi and an automatic is just under £31,000? Nevertheless, the Blade is a thorough workhorse, available in only two exterior colors: Pearlescent White and Cosmic Black. 18” Shadow alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Zero rubber come as standard, joined by a 6.1” touchscreen infotainment system made by Pioneer.
Thanks to a 2.5-liter twin-turbo diesel engine with 163 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, the 2015 Isuzu D-Max Blade can tow up to 3,500 kilograms (7,716 pounds) and has a payload of 1,063 kilos (2,345 pounds). If the OTR price seems right, then you may also like know that the Blade comes with a 5-year warranty.
