When talking about back-to-basics city cars, the Hyundai i10 is a hideously underrated contender to one of the best packages out there. The first generation was a bit on the plasticky side and not too appealing visual-wise, but the second iteration of the breed took every aspect of the South Korean urban dweller up a notch.
You can have this little bugger with a choice of three and four-pot engines, ranging from 1 to 1.25 liters displacement, both gasoline and diesel-fed. Furthermore, there’s an extensive choice of grades available for the 2015 Hyundai i10, starting with the entry-level S and topping with the Premium specification. However, Hyundai UK upped the ante some more by introducing the Premium SE grade.

Cutting to the chase, the new generation i10 lineup added a very posh range-topping Premium SE derivative for the UK-spec city car. Priced at £11,995 (OTR) for the five-speed manual and £655 for the four-speed automatic, this specification may seem steeply priced, especially if you consider that the Volkswagen up! in High up! spec starts from £11,385.

But the up! doesn’t benefit from so many standard features and a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty

Bang for the buck, the i10 makes a lot of sense, even in its most basic grade. However, with the i10 Premium SE, customers are getting all the bells and whistles from the get-go: the 1.2 87 PS petrol motor, 15-inch alloy wheels, an electric tilt and slide glass sunroof, heated front seats and steering wheel, climate control, chrome on the exterior door handles, rear parking sensors, push-button start and a smart key.

With the ordering books for the Hyundai i10 Premium SE now open, it’s necessary for us to mention another i10 upgrade operated by Hyundai UK. As of February, the space saver spare tire will come as standard on the SE grade and above. The Korean carmaker also offers a Connectivity Pack option, which adds Bluetooth, voice recognition, audio controls on the steering wheel and rear speakers for just £175.

In other UK-related Hyundai i10 news, the smallest model in the manufacturer’s lineup managed to sell over 25,000 units in the United Kingdom since its launch a year ago.
