Starting with the 2015 GMC Terrain and Terrain Denali, the OnStar 4G LTE system will also be available on the 2015MY Sierra light-duty and HD pickups, the all-new Canyon mid-size truck, as well as the Yukon and Yukon XL.
OnStar 4G LTE capability for the GMC lineup will rollout this summer, with the launch of the refreshed GMC Terrain and Terrain Denali compact SUVs. Featuring a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot able to support up to seven devices at once, the system offers Internet connectivity on the move for your smartphone, tablet PC, netbook or game console.
4G LTE connectivity allows passengers to surf the World Wide Web at very high speeds. Owners of GMC models equipped with the OnStar unit will be able to browse the Internet for funny pictures of cats, watch their favorite shows on Netflix, play games on Facebook or send emails. Featuring an antenna more powerful than those in smartphones, this technology also offers improved access to existing OnStar in-vehicle services.
“This technology is a great feature for all of our customers,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC. “From those who use their Sierra or Yukon as a mobile office, to the families taking trips in any of our vehicles, they can enjoy the benefits of 4G LTE for work or play.”
We remind you that the in-vehicle 4G LTE service comes with a free trial period of three months or three gigabytes of data, whichever comes first. After that, customers can opt between one-time packages or plans offering from 200 megabytes of data per month for $5 to 10 gigabytes per year for $150. OnStar 4G LTE comes as standard the 2015 GMC Terrain. Follow this link for the full list of GM models equipped with OnStar 4G LTE.
