Would you trust your life to a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06? Of course you would, that’s what happens when you drive any car, but what if we told you there was a human cannonball involved?
Now that the Z06 can allow its driver to make use of the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) feature, those police officers who used the system to film illegal racers and bust them are not the only ones finding an unconventional use for the gadget.
Chevrolet itself has decided to rely on the PDR for making the most out of the Z06 in their latest ad, one that comes from Mexico. You see, the system records both images and driving data, allowing the driver to see the optimal routes on a track, for instance.
Instead of using this to go faster and faster, Chevrolet turned the PDR into an integration tool, one that would make the 650 hp ‘Vette part of a human cannonball system.
The commercial brings us to a circuit, where the Z06 reaches an activation wire that triggers the launch of the human projectile. While a stuntman if high in the air, the Corvette has to continue its PDR-optimised lap in order to reach a second wire, which will activate the safety net that catches the human cannonball.
Perhaps there’s a bit of CGI to apply the proper make-up on the whole stunt, but we’re not really bothered, since the LT4 soundtrack and the flying action make such a flavored melange.
