Of course it’s the same truck from a mechanical point of view. That’s just the Toyota way of making things - find the most durable and relatively cheap way of making a chassis fitted with some engines and then keep it over the years with minor improvements, while keeping its looks in trend.
The 2014 Toyota Tundra got recently tested by the guys over at BoldRide who think that the pickup “barely snuck past average, barely snuck past good looking, and barely steps up to compete with its American rivals.”
The entry level Tundra is about $1,000 more expensive than the Ford F-150 GMC Sierra, which they say to have a better overall quality. This makes the Tundra be a nice option if you purchase the Platinum or 1794 Edition, which ramp up the interior features and comfort.
