Up until this year, the Toyota Corolla was that anonymous silver silhouette you knew existed on the road but rarely acknowledge its presence next to you at a red light.
The sedan existed only for those who knew about its legendary reliability and accessibility. And with over 40 million world wide buyers along time, you can say it’s a pretty popular sedan. Actually, the Corolla model is the world’s most popular car, greatly improving Toyota’s success and fame for offering affordable, durable and versatile means of transportation.

On the downside, the older Corolla generations were lacking personality and the cost-reducing plastic interior placed it as a first choice for corporatist fleets or over 40-years-old clients who considered functionality more important than styling.

But the anonymity ends with the eleventh generation Toyota Corolla which offers the same reliability but with a major style improvement, aimed to attract young buyers.

While the underpinnings of the new Corolla are about the same time-proven mechanical parts, its exterior shape evolved into a more fashionable, sharper design, characterized by the new Keen Look and Under Priority style. Sleeker headlights being reunited through the three-lined chromed grille and a thin stripe on the tip of the hood converge to create a bolder V-shaped front fascia, enhanced by the strong trapezoidal lower air intake guarded by discrete fog lamps on each side.

Its wheelbase got longer, while the rear overhang shrunk, to give the vehicle a more sporty stance. The rear fascia adopted the same chrome-stripe-reunited lamps style from the front, while the trapezoidal plate number carving gets discretely continued on the lower bumper to create that “planted on the road” visual feeling.

The interior is now more upscale, using less hard-plastic materials and having more thought-out shapes. The highest trim level also comes with smooth eco leather upholstery and a high-end infotainment system. The cabin also offers more comfort thanks to resculpted seats, increased legroom and better sound-proofing materials.

Launched with a youth-oriented advertising campaign, the 2014 Toyota Corolla just went on sale in Romania, where it was well received with a sumptuous launching party held in one of the most stylish location on the outskirts of Bucharest.

The new Corolla will be offered on the Romanian market in three different trim levels - Terra, Luna and Sol - with three engine to choose from: a 1.33-liter Dual VVT-i gasoline engine making 99 PS, a more powerful 132 PS 1.6-liter Valvematic engine and a 90 PS 1.4-liter diesel engine. Prices start at €16,110 for the entry-level Terra and ends at €23,253 for the Sol version (prices include VAT).

With the launch of the new sedan, the Japanese automaker managed to gather the whole eleven generations' heritage in one vehicle, made it more attractive to younger generations and labeled the whole pack with an affordable price, all hinting that the 2014 Toyota Corolla is a “beauty with purpose.”
