It's official: NGM Mobile Forward Racing has teamed with Yamaha for the 2014 MotoGP season and they will run two machines with Yamaha's M1 leased engines loaded into FTR chassis.
The M1 engine will be 2013 spec and will run on Magneti Marelli software, allowing these non-MSMA bikes to load 24 liters of fuel. Yamaha Factory Racing’s Masahiko Nakajima, General Manager Motorsport Development was also present at the meeting and added that the extra fuel could be used to run a richer mix, technically granting the FTR-Yamaha machinery better performance on straights.
NGM owner Giovanni Cuzari added that the team is still to decide on the final rider duo. While Colin Edwards is doing a good job at the moment, Cuzari mentioned the names of Nicky Hayden and Aleix Espargaro, so we'll be paying close attention to NGM these weeks...
NGM declared they're switching back to the FTR chassis for the Moto2 team, as well.
