Despite the last Ducati tests at the Jerez de la Frontera having been hampered by capricious weather and rain, Cal Crutchlow can at least be sure that his bike’s electrics are back to normal.
Crutchlow’s Ducati GP14 experienced electronic problems, preventing the young Manx rider from scoring more point in the debut round at the Losail Circuit in Qatar. Crutchlow finished in the 6th position, but has high hopes for the next race, at the Circuit of the Americas in, Austin, TX.

Last year, Crutchlow was very fast around the COTA track, and managed to finish the race in the 4th position, riding a Monster Yamaha Tech3 machine at that time. The mechanics confirmed that the electronics on the Desmosedici GP14 are working well, and this allows Crutchlow to hope that the can do better in Austin. He crashed in the practice sessions ahead of the Qatar race, and has given a lot of work to his technical crew trying to fix everything for the start.

Cal Crutchlow finished behind his team mate Andrea Dovizioso, who has already equaled his best performance in 2013. Still, the two riders have been surpassed by the 2013 CRT World Champion Aleix Espargaro, riding his all-new M1-powered Forward Yamaha bike. Even more the Losail charts have looked so good because of Jorge Lorenzo’s crash in Turn 15 of the first lap, a mistake which costed the Mallorcan the 25-point advantage the defending champion Marc Maquez now has.

The 2014 MotoGP continues this weekend with the Grand Prix of the Americas, at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the home round of Colin Edwards.
