Valentino Rossi Would Switch over to World Rally after Hanging His Leathers

Even though some fellows kind of already saw Valentino Rossi retired from MotoGP after his first year back with Yamaha did not bring the victories they expected, the Doctor is still far from that day. After openly speaking about his intentions of continuing to race under Yamaha colors, the 9-time world champion spoke about his potential future.

When asked whether he fears that his record will one day be broken, possibly by the new kid on the block Marc Marquez, Rossi replied that he never thought about this. “I do not know if it will bother me if he does, for now it's not close, and he yet has to win many races,” the Italian added.

Indeed, it’s a very big difference between winning several races and the first world title and being able to keep the pace until 9 more championships are also won. However, Rossi acknowledged the massive potential the young Spaniard has, and found similarities between his own eagerness to lead and be out in the front of the pack.

Valentino Rossi also spoke about the new generations of riders, some of which are part of his Moto3 team Sky Racing Team VR46, and said that he would not be surprised at all seeing one of them taking his place in the premier class.

As for his plans of retiring and his after-MotoGP life, Il Dottore says he might very well switch over to the World Rally Championship. Rossi is no stranger to the WRC, and he even came in the second place in the Monza Rally, in late 2013. After Stephan Peterhansel and Cyril Despres, seeing Rossi in a rally car sounds almost like the natural way of things.
