2014 MotoGP: Brazil Round May Be Dropped

While at the end of 2013 we were all happy to see the 2014 MotoGP season growing to include 19 rounds, it looks like things are slowly going back to the way they were last year, as the Brazilian circuit is far from complete ahead of the mandatory FIM homologation.
Laguna Seca dropped, this year's MotoGP rounds have been completed with two South American rounds, Argentina and Brazil. However, while the track at Termas de Rio Hondo in Santiago del Estero, Argentina is almost ready to accommodate both the race and the attendants, the constructions in Brazil haven't even been started.

Brazil wanted to bring back MotoGP at the Autodromo Nelson Piquet in the capital Brasilia, and a contract was signed with a company which had to get financing for the project... which did not happen, apparently.

The old circuit had to receive serious upgrades in terms of racing safety and accommodation for both teams and the audience, but the lack of funding prevents any development to the matter. Some claim that the MotoGP could be instead moved to the old Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiania, but the upgrades prior to homologation are still mandatory there, also.

And without financing, and with time ticking away, each passing day lessens the chances for a Brazilian MotoGP round this year.
