2014 Mercedes C-Class Spied Testing in Dubai

There used to be a time when Mercs were cars developed in a Stuttgart lab and built with metal pump and circumstance. Not any more! We live in the age of globalization, and you have to ensure that everything works just as well in the Arctic as it does in the desert.
One of our readers have just sent us this video of a bran new Mercedes four-door that’s undergoing testing in Dubai, “driving down Sheikh Zayed Road near Dubai Marina on Monday, July 2nd. The outside air temperature was about 43C (110F) at around 3pm.”

The car in question is being identified as the new CLA / BLS / CLC four-door coupe that’s built on the same platform as the A- and B-Class hatchbacks. This means we’re dealing with a front-wheel drive car that will also be offered in the US.

However, we think it's actually the new C-Class sedan for the 2014 model year. We say this because, just like our recent spyshots, the video shows prototype taillights and the sliding rear windows end at the tip of the door handles.... it's the subtle things that matter.

Amusingly, the video appears to be shot from inside a Mercedes G-Class.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
