The upcoming Lexus IS generation tests covered 1.6 million kilometers, equivalent to a trip to the Moon and back... twice! Although it never sow the void of space, the car faced every other harsh conditions available down on Earth.
Wanting to ensure that the new IS model will maintain its outstanding dynamic capabilities, the testing was performed in different weather conditions, both on road and track, complemented by further lab researches.

From the ice cold weather in the southern hemisphere to the melting heat of the desert, accompanied by hardcore track sessions on the Nurburgring and Fuji Speedway in Japan, the luxury compact sedan was tested to its breaking point.

The automaker focused on developing outstanding driving dynamics over all other functions. This process resulted in fitting the 2014 IS with new body strengthening techniques, such as laser screw welding and body bonding, as well as a 20 percent stiffer suspension to decrease body roll.
