The whole new Lexus design language revolves around the perfect combination between functionality, advanced technology and art. And the 2014 IS model perfectly emphasizes this through all its components.
The new Lexus IS F Sport manages to perfectly combine all of the above, giving the luxury compact sedan segment a new meaning. How it did that? Well, it didn’t revolutionized the car, it’s still a sporty sedan, but its beauty is in the details, in how it plays with your senses.
Lexus designers stepped onto a new territory, creating weird but beautiful shapes, like the insect-eye headlamps, spindle front grille, L-shaped daytime running lights and those intricately-sculpted side skirts continuing their lines in the taillamps.
And if you are not flattered by the exterior, just open the door and get inside. The LFA-inspired interior offers one of the best driving positions ever calculated, providing maximum comfort and support even for the longest trips. Soft leather wraps almost everything and there are only a few plastic surfaces. The quietness of the interior can be brought up to life by the superior quality Mark Levinson sound system coming with the F Sport pack, which also offers a cool LFA-inspired gauge cluster, a tricked out suspension and nice 18-inch five double-spoked alloy wheels.
But all these features would have probably been in vain if the automaker didn’t knew how to create the right theme for this special sedan. If the new upscale Toyota Corolla had a glamorous welcoming ceremony at one of Bucharest’s most stylish location, the 2014 Lexus IS made its connection with visual arts in an unusual launch party - in a cinema. While the big screen provided fast-sequenced promotional materials, the two IS models were showcased just in front of it, being introduced to the audience by a real ballerina who put up a Lexus-style show just like in the commercial.
The new Lexus IS is now available in two versions on the Romanian market - IS 250 and IS 300h.
Starting at EUR36,100, the standard IS 250 Business is powered by 2.5-liter V6 engine making 208 hp and 252 Nm of torque. Standard features include Xenon headlights, front foglamps, LED daytime running lights, heated/electric side mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels, 4.2-inch multi-info display, Optitron instrument cluster, 7-inch entertainment system with premium 6-speaker audio system, dual climate control with touch-sensitive controls, Push Start button, cruise control, electric windows, six-way adjustable front seats and leather steering wheel with shortcut buttons.
The IS 300h starts at EUR40,100 for the Business grade and goes up to EUR56,900 for the F Sport model, which comes with LED headlights, restyled front end, rain-sensing wipers, parking sensors, 18-inch F Sport rims, backup camera, LFA-inspired gauge cluster, 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, Active Sound Control, memory front seat an mirrors, sport front seats, leather upholstery and more.
