Kawasaki readies the 2014 model year for their acclaimed and menacing bagger, the Vulcan 1700 Vaquero. In case you're fond of the classic low and laid back looks for a nifty cruise-machine loaded with all the cool new features, Kawasaki's got the right ride.
Mixing attitude and practical sense, the 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Vaquero is equally usable as a bike for daily rides and as a vacation vehicle. The hardcases come off the bike fast and easily, reducing the girth of the beast and allowing the rider to filter through the urban traffic with more ease.
The 2014 Vulcan 1700 Vaquero is all black and looking mean: Kawasaki thought that a black bodywork was not enough, so they expanded the darkened attire to the engine and its covers, frame, air filter cover, bars and cast wheels. With minimal chrome parts for a nifty contrast, the Vaquero is a mean and lean presence in any parking lo and alongside highways.
The usual Vulcan 1700 treats are present on the 2014 Vaquero, as well: the electronic throttle valve system and digital fuel injection, onboard diagnose systems, 6-speed transmission with belt final drive and pretty much anything which makes the bike roll ahead.
On the touring side, the classic-looks dash is complemented by a nifty stereo system with iPod, XM and CB radio units, intuitive controls and a multi-function LCD screen. The sculpted seat also offers an upright riding position which favors long hauls.
A 5.3 gal (20 liters) fuel tank provides extended range so when out on the open road you can enjoy more riding and less fuel stops. Add in the safety the co-active ABS brakes and the 2014 Vaquero is ready to take on American baggers. With a price tag reading $18,299 (€13,710), this is a choice really worth checking out.
