The Suzuka circuit offered Formula 1 fans a lot of action and drama the past weekend. Despite the Mercedes-AMG one-two and Fernando Alonso's Ferrari coming to a halt due to an electrical fault, this was the blackest weekend in recent F1 history.
First you need to know that Sebastian Vettel, the 27-year-old German driving for Red Bull Racing, decided to wear Scuderia Ferrari overalls next year, which is a shocking move considering Vettel has been RBR's main weapon since 2009. In its place, a very young Russian driver going by the name of Daniil Kvyat is going to come, joining forces with Daniel Ricciardo.
Although it's still unconfirmed, Vettel's move to the Scuderia and Fernando Alonso's frustration with a sub-standard Ferrari will more or less see Alonso jump ship to McLaren next year. Some F1 fans may remember that the Spaniard drove for the British team in 2007, a pretty turbulent year that saw McLaren and Alonso terminating the driver's contract before the original three-year period in the contract.
If this wasn't enough of a shock for the F1 world, then Jules Bianchi's accident surely is. On lap 42, Sauber driver Adrian Sutil lost the rear of his car, spun then hit the tire barrier outside of turn 7.
Naturally, double yellow flags were displayed by the marshals to warn other driver of the incident. While the recovery vehicle was trying to get Sutil's racecar out of the tire barrier, a throttle-happy Bianchi did the same mistake as the Sauber driver, but Lady Luck wasn't there to help him.
As such, the Marussia driver was transported to Mie General Hospital with an ordinary ambulance van. Doctors performed a CT scan and learned that Jules suffered a severe head injury. Alas, doctors operated him and at the time of writing he's in intensive care, able to breathe on his own. The Marussia F1 Team press office declared that an update on Bianchi's condition will be issued as soon as possible.

Jules Bianchi's car travelled across the run-off area, ultimately hitting the back of the recovery vehicle (a big metal tractor, that is). Once the marshals reported that the driver was injured, medics were despatched and the Safety Car was deployed. An extrication team and an ambulance were dispatched to remove an unconscious Bianchi from the car.
