Darkened, compact and sporting smooth, flowing lines, the 2014 Honda Shadow Phantom is one middleweight cruiser we really like. Easy to handle and with a friendly architecture even for ladies and riders with a shorter inseam, this bike is the definition of functional simplicity.
Even the Grey Metallic version is just as dark: frame, engine, rims and bars, everything is gloomy and sober... and we love this. Boasting on a retro look, the matte silver upper forks and tank-mounted console make a nifty contrast with the 2-into-2 bullet-type chromed exhausts.
The classic yesteryear look is enhanced by the beefy 120cc front tire and the fairly small, retro headlight. On the tech side, the 2014 Honda Shadow Phantom is however, as up to date as it gets, since retro performance is not a thing riders are looking for in a bike.
The 745cc v-twin is fed using Honda's acclaimed PGM-FI technology which ensures easy stars, precise throttling and optimal fuel efficiency, while the digital 3-D mapping ignition and dual-plug architecture takes care of running the engine as smooth as possible.
The 5-speed tranny drives the ultra low-maintenance final shaft, just like in all Honda cruisers and a massive 296mm front rotor takes care of the slowing down duties. No ABS for the 2014 Honda Shadow Phantom could have some riders raising an eyebrow, but with an $8,240 () price tag, I say screw the ABS, enjoy riding!
