Old bikes have a very cool "je ne sais quoi-factor" about them, most likely because the manufacturing technology and the design of yore are so different from what we get too see rolling out the factory doors today. And if there's one thing cooler than a nice old bike, then it definitely is seeing such a bike in top-notch conditions and ridden on a daily basis.
One of the iconic bikes is the old BMW, in it's R80 or R100 versions. We here are no retro BMW historians, and could not tell which model this machine belongs to, especially as the owner decided to cover the engine plate in shiny chrome. We'd rather say it's an R80, but this detail is only marginal to the main goal of this short piece.
Which goal is, by all means, to give a big hand to the guy who restored the bike and maintains it in such a stunning condition. The old Beemer is far from the stock attire, and the modifications have made it even nicer, with the reworked seat and 2-into-4 megaphone chrome exhausts, cut out front brake drum and the huge, low-swung tank in mirror finish.
Add in the diamond stitching for the tank side pads and seat for a era-approved look and the pirate-themed badges makes us a bit nostalgic, though we could vouch that at 100 mph (160 km/h) aboard this sweet ride nostalgia is far away behind.
