The current Dodge Durango is already one of the coolest-looking SUVs on the market, and the 2014 styling refresh made it look even better. Now, Dodge is taking the styling of the Durango up another notch with the introduction of a new Blacktop Appearance Package, which accents a monochromatic pain job with a bunch of black add-ons.
Set to go on sale in October, the 2014 Dodge Durango Blacktop is instantly recognizable with blacked-out cues like the 20-inch wheels, crosshair grille, door mirrors and badging. The headlights also add a darker smoked look, while the trim in the front fascia is gloss black as well. About the only thing on the exterior that isn’t painted in black are the chrome dual exhaust outlets. For optimal effect, the 2014 Dodge Durango Blacktop is only offered in five exterior colors: Billet Silver, Bright White, Brilliant Black, Granite Crystal and Redline Red (shown above).
Available on three of the five 2014 Durango trim levels, the Blacktop Appearance Package will have various price points. On the base $29,995 Durango SXT, customers wanting the this aggressive look will have to pay $1,595, while the $36,495 Durango Limited will also include HID headlights and LED daytime running lights to go along with its $1,990 package price. Finally, buyers of the $39,295 Durango R/T will only have to pay $295 to add the black accents to the R/T’s sportier design.
Although he might be a little biased, Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of the Dodge and SRT brands, already refers to the Durango as the “Charger of the three-row SUV segment,” and he adds "now with Blacktop Package, customers can make it even more unique, and it's customized by the factory."
