The 2014 Dakar starts playing tricks as some riders are also facing navigation problems. Pedrero Garcia, riding for the Samsung Sherco Rally Factory lost the right trail around kilometer 176 of the bike and quad special stage in the 3 phase of the rally.
The Spaniard rode west instead of north and was headed toward a hilly area, in the exact opposite way of the generic route.

Dutchman Frans Verhoeven took a fall just after passing through CP2 in the 10th position and dakar.com reports he fractured an arm.

Navigation errors for Yamaha's Olivier Pain and KTM rider Jordi Viladoms around kilometer 193 of the special stage. Faria, Grabham and Paulo Goncalves also made navigation mistakes. The latter two followed the trails of the former and also missed the route, their own trails possibly causing other riders to make the same error.
