Not exactly successful in its mid-size sedan segment, where the Toyota Camry gains most of the attention (and customer orders obviously), the Chevrolet Malibu has received an update for the 2014 model year.
Now described as being roomier, more refined and more efficient, the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu will arrive this fall with a slightly updated design, a revised interior and GM’s new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, also found in the Impala, as standard.

Other new and enhanced features include a redesigned center console, Impala-sourced suspension, and a 2.0-liter turbo engine with nearly 14 percent more torque (295 lb-ft / 400 Nm). In addition, the 2014 Malibu also gains additional safety features such as the Side Blind Zone Alert and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

"The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu builds on the strengths established by the all-new 2013 Malibu to make it a stronger choice for customers," said Mark Reuss, president, General Motors North America. "The midsize sedan segment is the most contested in the industry and we're not sitting still with the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu."

Besides the 2.5-liter engine, the standard Malibu will also come with start-stop technology, which helps the vehicle return 23 mpg city and 35 mpg highway in this trim level.
