When Callaway Cars first introduced the Callaway Corvette SC627 to the public back in May, it promised an engine rating of “at least 620 horsepower and at least 600 lb-ft of torque.” The final dyno figures for this tuned C7 Corvette were just announced, and boy did Callaway keep its word.
On paper, the 2014 Callaway Corvette SC627 will be rated 627 hp at 6,400 rpm and 610 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm, which is an increase of 172 hp and 150 lb-ft over a stock 2014 Corvette Stingray and even significant gains over the previously announced Callaway Corvette SC610. These figures represent the SAE-corrected flywheel horsepower, but Callaway says the standard-corrected output is 657 hp and 639 lb-ft. The SC627 should be a beast right off the line with 500 lb-ft of torque available at just under 2,200 rpm.

This significant power increase is all thanks to the 2.3-liter supercharger mounted atop the Corvette’s 6.2-liter LT1 V-8, a high-flow air intake, a new triple-element intercooler and a free-flowing exhaust system. This exhaust provides one of the car’s signature styling elements with the D-shaped exhaust outlets, but this car also stands out with new ZR1-inspired hood that allows the supercharger housing to poke through. While this hood provides a meaner, more distinct styling, Callaway also says that it provides both conductive and convective heat transfer resulting in cooler air temps.

After you purchase your C7 Corvette Stingray, the Callaway SC627 upgrades start at $22,995. In addition to the performance upgrades, this price includes Callaway-branded key fob, door sills, floor mats and badges on the interior and exterior. This car also comes standard with a three-year/36,000 mile warranty. There are also available options that include vehicle delivery at either the National Corvette Museum or the Callaway factory, upgraded wheels and tires and a five-year/100,000 powertrain warranty.

Now that the engine has been SAE certified, Callaway says that production of the SC627 is getting into full swing and cars have already started shipping out to customers.
