Honda's private test at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas has reached an end, with the two Repsol pilots being significantly faster than their Yamaha factory team rivals, who attended the session for the first two days.
Marc Marquez managed to better his lap times and his fastest COTA race was 2m03s281, with his elder team mate Dani Pedrosa lapping 2m03s.898. While Pedrosa focused on finely-tuning the gearbox, his time improvements were rather small. On the other hand, Marquez gained more than 1.5s on his first day best time, much to Jorge Lorenzo's rightful worries.

Yamaha went home after the second test day, having done all they had in mind and being happy with the machines and setups. However, both Lorenzo and Rossi admitted that Honda's RC213V bikes are faster and stop better.

"I think we’re losing a couple of tenths on the straights and they can also accelerate better and faster out of the slow corners. On this type of track – with these types of corners – it’s giving them a bit more confidence; we are more afraid of crashing, so we can’t enter corners with so much confidence" Lorenzo told MotoGP.com.

On the braking issue, Rossi added: "I’m having some problems stopping the bike, so I’m not very good on the braking at the moment."f I brake where I want to brake, I arrive at the corner a bit too fast – especially at the hairpin. Also, we have a bit too much of a wheelie issue on acceleration from the hairpin, so that is the most important point on which we need to work."
