As the first examples begin rolling onto dealer’s lots in America, Shanghai GM has today launched Chevy’s new global mid-size sedan, the Malibu. The ceremony was reportedly attended by actor and Chevrolet Malibu ambassador Tony Leung Chiu Wai, according to GM. Now before you laugh at us for mentioning him, let us just say that he won Best Actor at Cannes in 2000, and he was pretty good in Hero.
Getting back to the Malibu, this has been priced from RMB 162,900 to RMB 229,900 (equivalent to $25,871 to $36,512 at the current exchange rate) and is available for preorder at 552 Chevrolet dealerships across China. The Malibu is sold with either 2.4-liter SIDI and 2.0-liter DVVT engines.

“With a balanced combination of style, comfort and drivability the Malibu will be a great addition to the Chevrolet family in China,” said Kevin Wale, President and Managing Director of the GM China Group. “It will play an important role expanding GM’s presence in the upper-medium passenger car segment.”
