After taunting us with a brand new photoshoot with the refreshed E89 Z4, BMW's roadster was put to the test by the guys from Autocar, to see whether it is a proper summer car or not.
The Z4 has some stiff competition these days, especially since the F-Type Jaguar was just released and joined forces with the older Porsche Boxster S. However, the Bimmer has some aces up its sleeve and, for the time being, it's still the segment leader.
The version they tested was the sDrive35i which has the 3-liter turbocharged engine which delivers 340 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels. This way the car reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the Boxster S.
Driving the LCI Z4 is just as fun as all its previous versions. The ride is comfortable, especially due to the adaptive suspension but, in case you're looking for some back-kicking thrills, you can also tune it to shatter your spine.
The car is alive and a great pick for anyone that wants to feel the summer breeze through their open top and also enjoy the driving dynamics of a proper BMW. The minor facelift the car has gone through lately should keep it interesting until 2016, when a completely new model is set to debut.
