Since the LCI Z4 models was recently launched in Australia, the guys from Car Advice got the chance to test all 3 models available in the far east country/continent.
At the moment, BMW Australia offers their potential buyers a pick out of 3 models: the sDrive20i, sDrive28i and sDrive35is. Of course, out of the bunch, the most powerful one is also the one you'd prefer but the other too make good cases for themselves also, with great value.
The thing you'll love about the first two is their fuel consumption and silence on the road. If you're not the kind of guy that drifts around corners and likes to drive fast around winding roads, but rather enjoy the sun and wind through your hair, those are the ones you need.
If you're more of a hardcore guy, the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox in the 35is is perfect for you. It will give you the buzz you need and keep your spine glued to the back of your seat. The exhaust will do a pretty job too, at any revs.
The interior is special and a bit different from other BMW, which gives it a plus in originality. As usual, every material used on the inside has a premium feel that let's you know you're inside a Bavarian vehicle.
The E89 Z4 is more of a tourer than a sports car. Sure, if you want to go hard around tracks or even regular roads, you can do that with the Roadster but you'll enjoy it more driven in Comfort mode in a sunny day with the roof down at cruising speeds.
