As you might expect from the latest generation of German-built luxury hatchback, the 2013 Audi A3 performed remarkably well in its Euro NCAP crash test, receiving the maximum five stars and excellent results in every test.
The new Audi A3 received a score of 95% for adult occupant protection. Maximum points were scored in the side barrier test. In the more severe side pole impact, protection of the driver's chest was rated as adequate. The front seats and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision, the European safety body said.
For child occupant protection, the A3 received a score of 87%. Child dummy crashes showed excellent protection of both 18-month old and 3-year old children would be achieved, and the only downside of the car was that insufficient information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag, which needs to be off for rearward-facing child seats.
Good protection was provided by the bumper to pedestrians' legs and the car scored maximum points in this and the area likely to be struck by a child/small adult, and the Audi received a score of 74%.
