Toyota is recalling approximately 10,000 sedans built for the 2013 and the 2014 model years due to defective wiper switches.
According to the Japanese automaker, certain contacts on the switch terminal might have been manufactured incorrectly and could cause a short when the wiper switch is moved from the “Off” to the “Mist” position, leaving the car without functioning wipers.
The recall affects the Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid and the all-new Corolla. Owners will be notified by mail to take their vehicles to a Toyota dealer and have the faulty switch replaced. Customers can contact the Japanese automaker at (800) 331-4331.
This is the second recall issued by Toyota this autumn, following the September round up which included about 235,000 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Lexus RX400h, Lexus IS 350, IS 350C, and GS 350 models.
