Ferrari has not revealed its F1 car for the 2012 season, but the first details of the racer have appeared in various auto magazines in Italy, with some of these generating a bit of controversy.
Autosprint gave the world a set of illustrations created by Giorgio Piola, which show certain elements of the car, such as its sidepods, which are considered as being inspired by the design of last year’s McLaren. These are used to create an aerodynamic effect, pushing the safety regulations to the limit.

However, the general impression is that the car will be an extreme development, just like team boss Stefano Domenicali said last year. This includes a hump on the nose, an element that has led many to consider the design as being “bad”.

The list of elements that use a bold approach goes on with a Red-Bull-inspired pull-rod suspension (Ferrari thus ditches its own design, which has been kept for over a decade), as well as an engine cover rear opening that is similar to that of the 2011 Red Bull car.

In addition to that, La Gazzetta dello SPort writes that the race car, uses “long, low and narrow” coolers and sidepods, offering a very low seating position. The racer is scheduled to be displayed on February 3rd, albeit in an initial version, which might not use the full list of features.
