2012 Cadillac SRX Gets FlexFuel V6 Engine

The Cadillac SRX range will get a boost in appeal in the following months, as the American manufacturer announced this week the availability of a new, E85 ethanol capable 3.6l engine. The unit will be made available with the crossover later this summer, with the pricing to be announced closer to the release date.

The new engine delivers 300 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm)of torque, way punchier than the engine currently on the table (265 horsepower and 223 lb.-ft of torque/302 Nm). At the same time, the power levels are meant to surpass those offered by one of the SRX's competitors, the Lexus RX350.

“SRX is resonating with luxury buyers by offering the function of a crossover and the distinctive style of a Cadillac,”
said Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac marketing.

“Now, we’re raising the standards even higher by providing the SRX with enhanced performance. The new engine will make the SRX more responsive for passing on the highway, entering freeways from on-ramps and climbing hills.”

Otherwise, the SRX will offer the same features that have been made available since the launch of the new version. The crossover is available in both two wheel drive versions and all-wheel-drive, the latter equipped with an electronic limited slip rear differential.

Standard features on the SRX include Bluetooth phone connectivity, heated steering wheel on the luxury, performance and premium trim levels and door lock switches on the driver and passenger door panels. On the outside, the SRX will offer a new machined-face finish on the 20-inch wheels, standard on performance and premium trim levels.
