After so many rumors regarding Volkswagen Amarok's US launch, with lots of sources involved in the matter claiming that the German carmaker has no intention to bring its truck in this part of the world, it appears that VW has decided: Amarok might be sold in the United States.
When? Well, nobody knows for sure, probably neither Volkswagen, but Car and Driver reports, citing company insiders, that the German producer might turn to Amarok to increase its volume in the United States.
In the meantime, Volkswagen is also preparing the Single Cab version of the Amarok which is expected to be released in the first quarter of the next year. Details are still in the unconfirmed stage, but it appears that the new model will be powered by the same engine lineup available on the regular version.
The Amarok is offered with two 2.0-litre fuel-efficient, Euro5 compliant, common rail TDI engines producing 163 PS, with torque of 400 Nm at a low 1,500 rpm, or 122 PS with maximum torque of 340 Nm from 2,000 rpm.
Pricing for the German market was announced earlier this year, with the standard version sold for EUR26,203, when equipped with the 122 hp 2.0 TDI diesel engine featuring the base equipment level. The model powered by the more powerful engine of the range, the bi-turbo 2.0 TDI diesel developing 163 hp, starts at EUR28,900 for the rear wheel drive version, and reaches EUR37,169 for the Highline (top equipment level) all wheel drive model.
