American builder Roush Performance released yesterday the release schedule for the 2011 model year, as well as some minor details of the upcoming conversions. The Roush assault will begin in April with the release of Stage 1 and Stage 2 versions of the Mustang.
They will be powered by the new Ford 5.0l V8 engine developing 412 horsepower and 390 ft.-lb. or torque. The estimated mileage stands at 25 mpg, thanks in part to the standard six-speed transmission.
Visual enhancements to be brought to the Mustang includes the Roush body kit, while other performance tweaks extend to a suspension and handling package.
"The 2011 ROUSH Stage 1 and Stage 2 Mustangs will represent an incredible value by blending appearance and handling with an amazing base Ford engine package,” Jack Roush said.
“I expect that the 2011 Stage 1 and Stage 2 ROUSH Mustangs could come close to matching the performance of some ROUSHcharged Mustangs we have offered in prior model years which will make them extremely exciting to drive and at a reasonable starting price point.”
But that's not all from Roush in 2010. The builder's engineers are working on developing the 2011 model year ROUSH charger for the 5.0l engine.
“We have a history of increasing the horsepower on each model year 427R® Mustang, and that should continue with the 2011 as well. However, exactly what the horsepower and torque numbers will be is too early to tell at this point as the engineering teams are still working through a myriad of details on the new five-liter engine,” Roush concluded.
