Raikkonen Gives Rally Car to His Brother for Arctic Lapland Rally

Kimi Raikkonen already signed a deal with Citroen World Rally Team to run for their Junior outfit, meaning that he'd have no use of his former rally car Fiat Abarth Grande Punto S2000 from now on. Consequently, instead of having 2 rally cars, he decided to hand over the aforementioned machine to his older brother Rami.

Yes, you've got it right! Rami Raikkonen was practically gifted the Fiat rally car a few days ago, and the first thing he'll do with it is to contest in the upcoming Arctic Lapland Rally. The news was reported by Finnish broadcaster MTV3, who confirmed there will be 2 Raikkonens at the start of the late January event.

Before signing the Citroen deal, Raikkonen (a Ferrari driver at the time) was using the Fiat Abarth Grande Punto in some of the small rallies he contested in during the past couple of years. Knowing his passion for rallying, the Scuderia gave him the opportunity to use this car even for the 2009 Rally Finland in the WRC.

Raikkonen eventually failed to finish the Finnish event, after crashing out of the rally in Day 2. The car was finally repaired and is good to go for this month's event.

The Arctic Lapland Rally will be Kimi Raikkonen's first opportunity to drive his new Citroen C4 during an official event, after doing some testing runs with it the past week. Also, it will be a good rehearsal for the Finnish driver before the Swedish Rally in the WRC, as the nordic event will also consist of snow and icy stages.
