The restyled 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse made its first outing at a special media event in Detroit. The carmaker will make the model available in both sedan and estate variants with an all-new coupe model set to follow shortly after.

The most obvious changes on the outside of the 2012 MY Facelift have been made to the front end that sports new L-spaped headlamps. Meanwhile, the interior has been upgraded with a revised dashboard set-off by the more finely detailed controls and a large high-resolution color display positioned on the center console.

The Estate version has always been a trend setter in it’s class when it comes to comfort. So it’s only natural the Mercedes brought the C350, a model which blends itself better to a more refined role. The V6 mill under the bonnet churns out 302 hp and 273 lb-ft, much improved over the previous generation, which only achieved 268 hp and 258 lb-ft.

“The C-Class is a highly successful model that has been attracting more and more customers from all over the world since its launch: The demand for the current model range even exceeds the success of its predecessor after the same period since its market launch,” explained Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars.

We were told that the model is available for pre-order in Europe starting today and will hit showroom floors on the old continent starting in March (probably after the Geneva Auto Show). US customers could wait until September before they can place their orders.
