South Korean carmaker Kia unveiled the 2011 Sorento CUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show and said the car will go on sale in early 2010 as model year 2011.

To get straight into details, the car will be offered in base, LX and EX trim levels, with each of these three coming with 17-inch alloy wheels with 235/65R17 tires and wheel moldings. The LX adds body-color heated outside mirrors with integrated LED turn signal indicators while the EX also brings standard 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, fog lamps (optional on LX) and a rear spoiler.

There will be two engines available across the range: a 3.5-liter V6 configuration developing 276 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque plus a 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit releasing 175 horsepower and 169 lb-ft of torque. The engines can be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with either front- or all-wheel drive.

Available in five- or seven-seat configurations, the 2011 Sorento comprises a wide array of safety systems, all trims being equipped with driver and passenger advanced front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags and front active headrests, four-wheel Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Brake Control (DBC).

Interiors have been upgraded as well, with feature highlights including an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Sat audio system with SIRIUS Satellite Radio capabilities and three months complimentary service, auxiliary and USB audio input jacks for connecting personal MP3 players, and Bluetooth wireless technology connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls.
